A mixed bag.

Carrying on from my rant the other night about how I hate not having our own house...this happened today:

I had a caterpiller digger thing and a bunch of people right outside the house digging holes like this in 4 places and then putting these pipes in. Talk about feeling like my space was being invaded. And no explanation or anything...just and hour or so of people standing outside my window talking to each other.

But on to happier things. I finally did a close up of the bag...but not the straps as, after ALL that knitting, I don't like them. I'll have to have a rethink. This felted brilliantly except for a few of the patches (different wool)- hence the slightly warped shape. Actually it's a bit of a worry how well it felted as most of it is left overs from my big blanket...at least I know now to be SUPER careful when I wash it. (BTW we sleep under it every night and I LOVE it).

And those photos were taken out in our new little nook. Love these chairs, and even more, sitting out in them (except for the bugs). Matt and I have been sitting out having breakfast together this week.

And tonight we had a lovely time playing with the Hamster. She was running in and out of Ella's littlest petshop toys. So cute when she would stick her head through a window.
And lastly, but by no means leastly, here's the 2 cakes I've made for Oscar's party tomorrow. Yes, that's right, by Sunday I will have a 13 year old. I feel like my whole world's about to change. We're having a get together for 2 of his friends and their families and our expat friends who are like family.

It was his idea to decorate the cakes in these bug lollies (soft and chewy) and in fact he insisted on decorating them himself...although I insisted only one bug on the square cake considering how many adults are coming to this thing. At some stage I'm going to have to make him a card too...I have things to tell him. Being the mother of a 13 year old is very difficult I think! Wish me luck for the next 12 months!!!

And a comment from the other end of the Darling, have a great year Oscar it gets be lots more fun from here on.
And don't worry too much about 13 Snork, remember next year will be the 14th and then the 15th after that, and after about another 5 years you will be able to stop worrying.
    Any more driving yet?
    love from Grumpy Old Dad
