A weekend spent trying out paint colours. This is the wall in the barn room that was covered in hessian (burlap) plaster board.
This is the room after I skim coated that wall with plaster (a new skill!!!), painted new tester spots and more or less put the room back together. The little alcovey bit there was the most I was able to prime this weekend.
The wooden thing against the wall is a bed head I made (for Ella's room, but it didn't look right) from our shed that fell down last year. I like it, but it needs to be cut down a bit. Adds to the rustic feel of the room.
Having spent a few days working in that room, I'm starting to think that the back feature wall needs to be a bit lighter- that room is very dark. We need to get rid of the silly feathery wall lights and get some proper lighting put in, but it's slowly coming together.
And here's the paint patches in the bathroom. I've had to have many long baths to try and make my decision...
We had lots of snow up there this weekend- had to dig into the house! We really need to have a front porch built. Being a long weekend, it was a disgustingly long drive up. We spent Saturday just chilling (and painting and plastering) then had our neighbours over for dinner. I love our neighbours. Steve is a children's author- particularly non fiction animal books. We were telling him all about the Tasmanian Devil (which he knew nothing about) and now he's keen to go to Tassie to do a book.
Sunday we went skiing for the day. I can't say that I enjoy it yet, but there were moments where I didn't hate it. And it was nice being out with the family for the day. And I was thrilled that my legs were fine after a day of skiing (after all my hard work at the gym)- actually it was my arms that hurt from having to use my poles to get up the little rises the times I hadn't got enough speed up.
Yesterday more of the plastering/painting/chilling before a late drive home (to miss the traffic). Then this morning we woke up to yet another snow day...actually although it snowed last night, it's the icy rain and rain this morning that made conditions really nasty. Oscar and Remi were supposed to have exams this morning, so yet again they get an extra day. I'm quite happy not to have to go anywhere/do anything today as I woke up with a raging sore throat. Perfect day for chilling out I think.
Love the attic room - looks Welsh to me. I also rather liked the wall light...
