Adjustment

It's been a week! Matt started a new job this week. Last week he was in Australia getting a new visa- he made it back in time to spend the weekend in VT with us, but his new job (which is in Manhattan) has meant that it's like he's been away again all week. I really don't know how he's managed it on the back of a short trip to Aus- he gets in after 11pm most nights (long after I'm asleep anyway) and catches the 8am train. Oscar and Remi haven't seen him all week as they are out the door before 7am. It's been a real adjustment. Funny, as for most of our married lives this was the way it was. And yet, we've been spoiled for the last 4 years- we've had him home for dinner, we've seen a lot of him. It feels quite strange to have him away so much again. Needless to say, somehow without his support, it's felt harder for me this week- dealing with the kids, the house stuff, just everything.

But, I have been busy- I covered 4 bar stools, made a gazillion cushions- or at least it feels like it. I even managed to knit 2 hats of my huge commission (which I'm feeling I may have to down- grade as I don't see me being able to knit another 13 before Xmas). I have new curtains, paint, a light all ready for a big weekend up at the house. Actually, I'm staying up there until the 28th- the kids have 2 1/2 days of school next week before Thanksgiving and Kit is away for those days on a school camp, so I'm going to stay up and work and they will all come up again on Wednesday. We're spending Thanksgiving with our friends and then having our house warming party on Saturday (wish you could all come)- hence the need for me to push on through and get as much done as possible. I'm hoping that the contractors have put walls in the front room and that the dead tree (which is now costing us 10x as much as the original quote, and requiring the removal of 3 more trees- bye bye Xmas pressies) is down. Wish me luck on both counts!

So, see you in a week or so. We don't have any internet connection up there, so I'll be 'offline' for a while.
