Yesterday was this boy's 11th birthday. Matt took the day off work so we could do something special with him. He has the worst timing for a birthday as no one is around this time of year and it just becomes too hard to do a party. Plus, he cannot make decisions about ANYTHING so everything gets left to the last minute. We had threatened to blind fold him and just take him somewhere as he kept vetoing all our suggestions, but was not able to come up with anything of his own.In the end we drove up the coast to a new beach that we hadn't been to before.

It was hot, but there were jellyfish in the water, so no one went swimming as much as we'd hoped.
I was just happy to sit though.
We had a picnic lunch in the shade which was lovely- and a bit of a snooze after lunch. Kit did manage to make a decision about dinner though, and we went out to a local diner called Lucky's.
They put a candle in his "malt" and sang happy birthday too him. I think Kit wanted to go just for his "cookies and cream malt"- although the boys do love the burgers there too.

Oscar didn't order desert, and then he saw Ella's hot fudge sundae...

Luckily she was nice enough to share.

Our kids don't get food like this very often- can you tell? They had to get every last drop.



Outside in the carpark afterwards- I was really taking a photo of the dent in the car that Matt made when we were leaving the beach...
