Easter is always a funny time of year for us; Remi was born on Good Friday so sometimes it coincides with his birthday; we often seem to go away and have spent Easters in Spain, in Vermont, in Ithaca, in Tasmania.

When the kids were little I used to go to great lengths- I would dip my fingers in talc and make little bunny footprints all over the floor and table and any where a bunny might have scampered while delivering eggs.

At some point they cottoned on to that one and so I stopped (plus I didn't always have talc or even flour in our Easter travels). This year I bought their Lindt bunnies early- in bulk at Costco and hid them in the drawer where I keep the good table linen thinking that they'd never look there. Unfortunately I forgot that one of our cats sometimes climbs up through the back of the drawer and goes in there for a sleep. This meant that she lay on top of the bunnies and melted them and that Ella and Kit both discovered my stash while looking for the cat. Ella was in tears saying that she'd tried to forget what she'd seen, but did that mean the Easter bunny wasn't real.

So I told her that no self respecting rabbit would come into a house with a dog and two cats and that I was just helping him out. Of course they were fine this morning as it was all about the chocolate... and the fuzzy chicks.
And one of Ella's Easter traditions- wearing the ribbon from the Lindt bunny.

And we did of course do an Easter egg hunt...which they still enjoy...

Even Oscar, although he didn't come running out like the others.

And afterwards they counted their eggs- Remi won of course (even though it wasn't a competition- with Remi EVERYTHING is a competition).
He turns 14 tomorrow, so we had an Easter/birthday breakfast with waffles and nutella this morning.

There was a lot of egg trading that went on (as they were different flavours).

And Kit is doing ok. Although I think it's hit him how much he is going to miss out on. I'm constantly telling him not to run- yesterday we had a BBQ with friends and all the kids were playing soccer and rugby and he just wanted to get in there.

And yes, we have had gorgeous glorious weather the last few days- but though all the kids are in T-shirts, we weren't able to stay out long as it is still a bit nippy- hopefully it will warm up later in the day so we can have Remi's Birthday BBQ. We're going all out with making him feel special as we haven't got him a present. All he wants is skis and he's not getting them. He may end up getting a bike...

I hope you've had a lovely Easter weekend.
An easter egg disaster story with no mention of Sammy Brown?
