WET!

Even though we weren't supposed to get rain until late this afternoon, it BUCKETED down for the game this morning. I managed a few shots while they were warming up - you can't really see how heavy the rain was. That's Oscar side line- he plays hooker.

It was only a scrimmage- 2 x 20 minute halves for both the A and B teams. Oscar played in the As. I only got to see the first 20 minutes as Matt and one of the other coaches had cooked chili for all the boys and we were trying to light burners to heat them up- but the wind was too strong and so we ended up having to drive them back to a stove to do it. It was wet and windy and very unpleasant- REAL rugby weather.

Actually being out and driving around town today made me realise how bad the storm was- trees down everywhere- on cars, on houses, across roads. We were actually really lucky. So many people with power out and they've cancelled school for tomorrow- maybe even Tuesday as well. Fortunately we had a friend pop round and lend us a pump, so I've got most of the water out of the basement and actually managed to get the washing machine working- I'm not going to touch the dryer for a few days.

  1. Wow, you seem to go from one extreme of weather to the next! It looks miserable on the field and I bet Matt's chili went down a treat. Oscar looks like a young man nowadays!

I'd like to report in that Hobart's fabulous summer continues into March - 33c today and I had a swim after work at Sandy Bay Beach. Unbelievable, but we're not complaining!

  2. Where are the goal posts?? And who has to launder all those spiffy strips after the game?
    But the chili smells good.
