Ella was a little upset this morning before school as she'd found some homework she'd forgotten to do. She doesn't have a great teacher this year; she is very unsympathetic and just totally doesn't get Ella. And so Ella got all upset about school generally and her teacher. It breaks my heart when there are tears about school- especially right before the bus comes, so I promised I'd bake her something special for after school. I know right, totally teaching them to use food as comfort; but what else is a mother supposed to do?
Anyway, I was merrily combining ingredients to make some sugar free chocolate cupcakes when I realised I had no eggs- and Matt had taken the car because we had a delayed start. So I decided to just wing the recipe and make them into cookies instead. I added a bit of this, a bit of that and made the YUMMIEST chocolate/coconut cookies ever. They look like cow pats but they are scrumpy. Of course I'd never be able to make them again as they were such an adhoc creation. "I made them out of my head" as we used to say.
I also found time to start my starfish painting. HMMM...
looks like a bit of very clever showing off to some, very flash, so far... but is it a bit like drawing Emma where you have to finish before you finish to make sure it remains art?

Not at all dad, it needs to be a complete starfish. It's just a bit overwhelming trying to do it in one hit- apart from my hands seizing up, my brain starts to freeze from all that patternation as well.
