Making me happy

Firstly I FINALLY finished THIS cardigan yesterday. I started this the summer before last in hopes of being able to wear it last autumn.
I got a bit lost in the pattern and then left it for too long and then finally picked it up again this summer and have been working on it bit by bit when I'm sitting waiting at ballet each week.
And I'm even happier that the weather has moderated somewhat (the sun is out today and it's LOVELY!) so I can actually wear it (instead of the 4 layers I was wearing last week). The arms may be a little short- haven't decided yet whether I'll add more to the length of it or not. It's gorgeous alpaca yarn that is soft and drapey-nice.

And another thing making me happy. I discovered today that it's not my beloved camera that is broken, just my sigma zoom 20-70 mm lens (that I was never very happy with). YAY!!!! That means at the moment I only have my 70-300 mm zoom (not good for taking the photos above), but at least I can use my camera. So now I will have to buy a new everyday kind of lens. Any suggestions? I'd prefer to get a Canon lens I think. I've wanted to get a macro for a while, but not sure if that would cut it for day to day stuff...(totally know NOTHING about photography! Help!)

And while I am sad that Mum left today, I am happy that we had such a great time with her here for the last 3 weeks. We did lots and really enjoyed each other's company.
