4

There are times when being a parent of 4 children can be tiring, stressful, exhausting, noisy, messy and more. But there are days, like today, when I love having a tribe of kids.

Today we had a "special olympics". We made up games and races for them, and they participated with glee.

First we played "blind relay"-where they were all blindfolded and had to run a relay...Kit nearly ended up going over the wall and ending up in the pond.
Then we played "wibbly wobbly race" where they had to go around 20 times looking up at an object and then run a race. Unfortunately Remi was awesome at this and no amount of dizzying would make him fall over, where as Ella would be on the ground before her 20 times were up.

Next came leap frogging...

Then we set the timer on the camera and had Ella climb up after taking a photo...this took many attempts to get right...
Then came Airplane dizzies...
A piggy back race...
And finally a game of "disabled soccer" in which each of them drew straws for a disabililty...
Remi was webthighed, Kit was siamese dogged (tied to Honey), Ella had no arms, and Oscar was blind. Not very PC, I know, but OH SO FUNNY to watch.
It looked a lot like this...

And you know they've had fun when they have grass stains like that!
We are finally enjoying some summer weather...bbqing every night, living outside. AHHHHH!!!

  2. Annette, I was talking to my mum about the SADS thing...asking why so many Tasmanians have it (now) compared to here where we have so much less sunlight in winter (and don't forget we have had MONTHS of rain here too). She said that there is evidence coming out now that it's due to the OVER reaction of covering up to prevent skin cancer. Sunscreen, hats, long clothes-all prevent you getting enough Vit D. So it's not actually the LACK of sunshine, but how Tasmanian's fail to absorb it. Interesting thought-I certainly don't remember there being a mass SADS when I was young living in Tassie.

  4. That is s0o funny. I loved Matt in the blindfold; you guys must have laughed so much. I don't know how you could have taken the photos. What a fantastic thing to do to involve the whole family and all the different ages. And after all Kit's recent injuries you told me about, I'm so glad he didn't fall into the pond!
