Poor Pussy

Yesterday I spent a fair time trauling through the internet looking for other parlour games, or even just kids games. Some I recognised, and some were new. But then I found "Poor Pussy". This was on of my most favourite games when I was a child and we played it all the time at birthday parties.

For those of you who don't know:
One person is "pussy" and must go up to the other players, one at a time, and meow and act like a cat. The player chosen by "pussy" must then try to stroke "pussy" on the head and say "Poor pussy, poor pussy, poor pussy" without smiling or laughing. If they do laugh, they become "pussy", if they don't laugh then "pussy' moves on to someone else.

I just knew that Ella would love this game. I taught it to her (with her rolling around in hysterics) then we went down and played it with the boys and Matt. SO much fun.

These games are such fun and I have a mind to teach a new one to the kids each night. Part of what I love about them is there's no real winner. They are just fun games.

  1. This is an addition to my list from your last post:
    Cat and Mouse
    Old Mother Witch
    Kangaroo Skippy Roo
    Scarecrow
    Helicopter
    Handstands
    Sticky Popcorn

I love these crazy games, and yes, the 'no winner' thing sits better with me too. I NEVER have a 'plum pudding' sitting in the middle, and no one is ever 'out'.
