We drove into the city today to go to one of my favourite places, The Metropolitan Museum of Art. I took my little digi canon camera in as I didn't want to have to lug in my big one (still going to the chiropractor, people!). I picked it up a few weeks ago, put in new batteries and when I turned it on the LCD screen had gone. Just totally black. "That's ok", I thought, "I can just look through the view finder and then see what I've taken when I download photos". Well, today, in the car, it died in my arms. I took one photo to make sure the flash was off (you need the LCD screen to tell) and turned it off. When I tried to turn it on again there was no reponse. It's a sad day for me as it was the first digital camera that I bought and when it worked it worked really well. An excuse to get a new tiny one I guess...
Anyway, so the result is no photos. I love going to the Met. To me it is such an awesome art gallery/museum. We had a really good look around, and Ella and Oscar were loving it, Kit was enjoying it, but Remi just didn't want to be there which made an otherwise great day a little wearing. Still we stayed for a good 4 hours and all the kids are complaining of sore legs tonight (what is it about strolling that makes the legs ache so??). Ella and Oscar are already asking when they can go back again, and I'm trying to work out days I can do it when the kids are back at school. I think a trip to MOMA with those that are interested is in store too. We really don't make enough of living so close to the city!
Good on you - I love both the MET and MOMA. Did I tell you there's a MET shop at Sydney airport? and a L'occitane there and in Magnet Court, Sandy Bay? Takes a bit of the specialness out of shopping overseas but gives me lovely pressie options here!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with the last line of your blog...have you heard Jimmy Cobb live yet? Surely reason enough for a trip into town...just for your Dad
