Raingutter regatta

Tonight we had our last cubscouts meeting for the year...a "raingutter regatta" at the local "beach".
We arrived there early to find fresh tire tracks in the sand.

There was something so beautiful about them and they reminded me of waves, so I had to photograph our little wooden boat floating atop them.

Ella found a huge pile of sand.

And some fantastic flags.

And an artist working away in the last of the lovely evening light.

It wasn't long though before the light had faded and dark clouds had come in.

Not before I could take this shot of my lovely new (and cheap!-gotta love that) shoes.

Then the heavens opened and we ate pizza in the rain. But it had mostly stopped by the time the actually meeting started. I had to get this photo of Kit (ahem) saluting the American flag in his red crocs and rolled up cords.

Then it was on...wooden boats in raingutters blown with straws. You wouldn't believe how much fun the boys had with this.

Unfortunately both my artist paint and the spray varnish were not waterproof and "the sea dragon" didn't last until the end.

Kit still had fun-check out that vein on his neck!

By the time we headed home, the sun was setting in the west...

*not sure what happened with the formatting-it's not how it looked when I typed it up*
