Birthdays and presents

Here he is; my big 12 year old. And yes that is sunburn on his face!!! He and Matt and Kit went into the city to watch a friend of ours play rugby on Saturday and it was the most gorgeous day. Just for Remi's birthday. I didn't see any of it as I was blitzing the house with housework all day. But that was it, it's back to cloudy and cool now.

On Saturday night we all went out for dinner for Rem's birthday...to a Japanese restaurant. The kids are getting better at trying new foods-Ella was hoping into the raw salmon. We picked up some icecream and a cheap cake on the way home and as we walked in the door, my mum called. So we put her on speaker and she got to sing Happy Birthday to Remi with us.

I think he had a good day. I've been so slack for the last 12 months-I haven't organised birthday parties for any of the kids. That is so unusual for me!

And here's a late birthday present for my step mother. I've been working on this quilt for a while. I didn't get it finished in time for her birthday as I had to reorganise my study after my move upstairs. But better late than never. And considering it is so hot where they live, there's no way she can use it until winter anyway. I've called it my stain glass window quilt. I love the way the little stripes of fabric shine through.

So happy birthday Maggie...keep a look out for the package. I'll post it off today. Sorry to spoil the surprise..

Oh, and it's reversable...this is the back, so you can have it up which ever way suits your mood!
