I feel an obligation to this blog.
I convince myself that there are readers out there, friends, family (maybe even strangers) who enjoy catching up with what the family and I do, who enjoy seeing what I have made, who actually read what I have written. But I mostly have to convince myself of this as there is little evidence of any readers. For the past 6 posts I have got 2 comments.
And not getting comments, not knowing that there are people reading my blog, really just takes all the fun out of it for me.
So I'm having a rest from it.
We're off to Vermont for a couple of days or so and when I get back I may post, I may not. It depends on YOU, dear reader, entirely. I'll come back when I have at least 10 comments to this post (personal emails don't count). My counter is at 3089...I'll be counting.
Is this blackmail? Am I holding my blog to ransom? Yes! I have thrown my toys out of the pram.
But to me this is a two way street and I talk to myself enough at home.
So it's up to you...even if you've never left a comment before. And for all my family who say they can't remember passwords or whatever, it's easy...do it as "anonymous", just leave your name, or do it as "other".
So we should have a good week. The kids and Matt are skiing, but not me...I learned my lesson last year.
Matt and I have had a lovely couple of days at the Juliska warehouse sale. They have a shop in the street where he works and my last few presents have been from there (I never did get around to photographing my lovely birthday presents...but Matt bought me a white teapot). We went in the other day as he wanted to buy me a pair of lovely champagne glasses (except plain on the glass) for our wedding anniversary and wanted me to choose. While we were in there we noticed they had a sale starting the next day. So, with Kit towing along as he was sick, we went. Two trolleys later we have some gorgeous, gorgeous ceramic stuff all at 80% of retail. And my glasses. And I went back the next day for another look as they drop the prices each day. So I'm sitting here sipping my tea out of a lovely blue teacup and saucer which would have been $37 but was only $9. Kind of makes it even more sweet.
And Mum, if you are reading this. I LOVE my bag. I started using it right away. It's the nicest bag I've ever owned.
Have a great weekend and I may see you next week.
I've just looked and my links don't work very well...if you really want to know it's the Victoria tall flute, and the berry and thread for the teapot and cups, but we also got a lot of the Octavia collection in the lovely green as that was heavily reduced.
Dont't stop! I check in you all the time, it's inspiring and fun. I haven't seen you in well, half our lifetime now, but I still feel like I know you really well. Thanks to your blog. So keep it coming. Hilde
ReplyDeleteKeep on writing! I am picking the toy up and handing it back to you, even though I have two kids, and I KNOW how this game goes? Smiles. Have a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteI have left comments for you before. Please don't stop, I read you every day but don't always feel the need to comment. I'll try to comment more!
ReplyDeleteok,ok, George. I love reading your blog. I read it every day and am disappointed if there is no new posting. I know other people love it too cos I've seen reference to it on other blog sites. Dear old fashioned thing that I am, I think of it as a book, a sort of autobiography. Very rarely do I respond to it in writing, but I always respond emotionally.
ReplyDeleteMaggie XXXX
I open it most days
ReplyDeleteIm here too! Just got internet at home today FINALLY!!!! Yaya!!!!
ReplyDeleteHey George,
ReplyDeleteI read your blog most days. I really look forward to catching up on what has been going on. I love hearing what you are up to even though we haven't seen each other in a looooong time and I've never met any of the kids!
I will be sad :( if you stop posting - so please don't!

Keep posting, Georgia. I will also be sad if you stop.
ReplyDeleteOk, I like this I'm gonna steal your "holding your blog ransom" thing. I always wonder who is reading..... (Hi!)
ReplyDeleteAm I in time to make the tenth comment?
ReplyDeleteDon't stop Georgia - I went through something similar last year. I hate not getting comments but what I did get was that the interaction/comments are very important but more than that my blog is turning into a family diary for us. I hadn't looked at it like that before. I even thought about making it into a book someday (just for us that is).
