We went into the city for brunch yesterday morning with friends who are moving to Hong Kong. Matt drove in and we parked and it was actually quite easy. I have this huge mental block about driving into the city, but it was fine. We actually go in there early and wandered around our old familiar area. This sculpture is right next to the Plaza Hotel, across from where Matt used to work.
I just love the glass building behind. It is curved, so the reflections it gives off are really cool-even if it does make you feel a little sick sometimes
After brunch (at a restaurant Matt and I used to frequent quite a bit) we split up boys and girls so that Ella and I could go to American Girl Place so she could spend some of her saved money to buy some clothes for Lucy her doll. I finally got this shot of the sun shining through the flags outside Rockerfeller centre as you walk down 5th Ave. I had seen it when Matt and I went to Moma and wanted to capture it then. Of course, my photo doesn't do it justice.
As we were walking back to the car we passed the restaurant "Remi", so of course we had to do a photo shoot with our own Remi.
We were all pretty exhausted when we got home, just before a cold front came through with icy cold wind and some squally snow. The snow didn't last...it must have blown away, but the cold weather did. It was really, really cold today (-13, -23 C with wind chill). Looks like we've lucked out with getting snow this winter...luckily we're going up to Vermont soon to get a bit of the white action.
Yay! Manhattan! It sounds liek a good trip and I love the Remi to Go!
