I see the light

...at the end of the tunnel. This morning is the first time since Christmas that I have not woken up coughing my lungs out. It's been 1/2 hour and I haven't coughed once (I'm sure I will soon though). I'm still stuffy, I'm still aching in my back and sternum, but I actually feel nearly human today.

And a good thing too; I still haven't got the washing machine fixed, so it's more of that larky to get some washing done. Fortunately we're above freezing all this week, so I should be able to dry things on the line OUTSIDE (not the strings all over the basement).

And not being below zero should stop the pipes freezing in the down stairs bathroom. We had the hot water pipe burst in there on Friday and to shut it off we had to shut off all water to the kitchen too. So yesterday morning I was boiling water on the stove to be able to do 2 big lots of dishes in the sink...the steam probably did me good, but I wasn't really in the mood to find anything good about it. Fortunately a plumber was sent and it was all fixed in time for Matt to cook his Asian feast.

He and Oscar and Kit had driven to Whiteplains NY to an Asian mall to get some supplies and we had Asian for lunch and dinner. I have to say Asian as it was a bit of a mixed bag...we had Chinese pork dumplings with Kim Chee (Korean) and Tom Yum soup (Thai) for lunch. The soup did me the world of good. Then we had Spicy chicken in coconut and frogs legs and a fish curry for dinner. ALL the kids ate the frogs legs, and it was only Ella who didn't know what they were until after she tried them. And then she had more. All I wanted was the spicy sauce and rice (although I had a little of the other stuff). Spicy is good for colds.

We still have lots of stuff for Matt to play with...plus a couple of favourites Oscar and Remi remembered from Singapore; Guava juice and Kaya (coconut jam)...and Yakult. It's funny that that Yakult is only sold here in Asian markets. We used to buy the stuff weekly in Sydney.

Anyway, enough rambling. I promise to come back with some lovely photos of something.

And I still haven't coughed!!! (Damn it I just did)

Hun, what are cooked frog legs like? We have to eat ours raw and have to catch them ourselves, baby ones but at least there are currently plenty down the Murray at the moment so we can have a snack when Dad takes us swimming.
Good that your Mum is getting better, but you can keep your weather and I hope your lot were allowed to watch the Sydney Test... Dad said that was really special.
Love to your mob and I hope there was enough of everything left over after the feast for you.
Siss and Rosie is here somewhere as well
