It's beginning...

Those who know me will say that I'm a big kid when it comes to Christmas. So it was with excitement yesterday that we went to buy our Xmas tree. Last year we left it late and ended up paying $90 at a nursery, this year I was on the ball and we got it for only $60 from the local fire station. Once again it only just fits and the angel's head is wedged against the ceiling.

I love getting all the decorations out. It's like seeing old friends. The kids remember them all too and tell me where they came from or whose they are as we hang them on the tree.

Then after hanging lights up outside in -1 Deg (oh my! My hands were cold). I came in and sat by the fire for our annual snowflake making night. As I sat there I took some snaps of the Christmas corners of my home (I haven't hung the stockings or advent calendar yet).

And here's us cutting snowflakes...even Matt had a go this year.

It was a lovely night by the fire until Kit went barefoot down to the basement to get some juice for dinner and trod on an upturned screw in a plank of wood and bled everywhere. He's not able to walk on it still today, but hopefully it will be OK...yep! It had to be Kit!!!!
The temps were forecast to plummet last night, it was down to -7 when we went to bed. With the possibility of snow. But it was with surprise and excitement that we woke to falling snow and snow on the ground this morning...it was so rare last winter.

Isn't it lovely! Here's our hand made snowmen, and my wreath I made for the front door. I was first out this morning to take Honey out. She LOVED it, kept biting the snow and running in it. She didn't want to come it for breakfast, so the kids came out and played with her for about an hour.

Look! Real snow, not that ice stuff we had last year.
And here's Kit sitting on a chair out in the snow...He wasn't really enjoying himself.
We've had light snow all morning and it's forecast to continue for most of the day, so I think we'll snuggle in and maybe do some baking too...banana muffins I think, Dad.
