Summer fun

I have been so tired lately that I haven't even had the energy to blog. Too many late nights and early mornings me thinks. And it's been hot...not middle of Australia hot (Dad! to stop you pointing out the obvious), but above 90 deg F (32C) and oh so very humid.

But Monday was something the kids had been looking forward to for a year. It was the annual RBS Rye Playland day. They book the whole place out (bigger than any theme park I've been to in Sydney) and it's all free for RBS workers and clients. So it's free rides, food, drinks, games, fireworks etc. It makes for a very fun afternoon/evening as there's hardly any lines and the kids can go on anything, eat anything and just generally have a blast.

This yearr Kit was tall enough to go on most of the rids with the boys. We went on a couple of water rides to get wet and cool down first and then the boys went one this one:

Kit actually looked like he was about to cry, but he really loved it. Poor Ella kept getting dissapointed because she was just a tiny bit too short. She's got no fear of these rides either.

Here's they are on the mini dogems (Ella couldn't go on the big ones). I was killing myself laughing as Matt had to stick his leg out the front to fit. I tried to go on with Kit, but there wasn't enough room.

Ella having "cotton candy" while waiting for the boys on the roller coaster.

We had got there about 4.30 and we left about 10.30 (neighbours came in to puppy sit). By this time I'd had enough. I'd been on a few rides...I just can't take them anymore. I don't mind a bit of a rollercoaster, but I had to stay with Ella, but the kids convinced me to go on some really fast spinny ones and I was convinced I was going to puke. But as it got dark I had lots of fun taking photos of the lights on the rides. I'd only taken my little old digital camera and I find it really hard to take photos with it now, as my canon digital doesn't have a view screen-you have to take photos the old fashioned way.

This is the ride above that Kit and Ella are on.
And this one had all the kids and Matt in it. I'd been on it, but happy not to have another go. By then they'd won a heap of stuff at the side show games, so I had the big (free) bag full of loot.
Last year we'd gone on all the "ghost" rides, but they were pretty lame and hot, so we gave them a miss this year. I love how they look all lit up at night though.
And here we are right at the end of the night-the boys on a superman ride and Ella and I waiting. Matt took her on the Ferris wheel after this, but I'd REALLY had enough by then. We were all saturated from the water rides and I was SOOOO tired. I still had to drag them away. Kit and Remi went on this ride 10 times in quick succession...Kit actually had the stitch from running from the end to the beginning again.
And here's a photo I found of Honey on this camera taken by Oscar. Kit had a pair of shorts (used to Be Oscar's and Remi's) that ripped everywhere, so now the kids play with them with Honey.
I was quite happy chilling yesterday...we watched some movies and I knitted. The kids had some naps. Tomorrow is Kit's birthday, so I'm going to have to make a cake or something today (he wants lemon meringue pie....hmmm).
