Kit's birthday

I spent ages the other day going through these photos and photo shopping them, making them look really good and then there was an error when I tried to save them and they all went back to the originals; so here they are unaltered.

As I mentioned, I had to make a lemon meringue pie for Kit, so that was done first thing in the morning. I was amazed at how easy (and yummy) it was. And when we ate it, the only complaint was the pie crust which I bought ready made.

We still hadn't decided on a present for Kit; I just really didn't know what to get him. But then at about 8.30 while we were making lemon meringue pie, the perfect present came to me: a pocket knife!!!!

We first went to Orvis, but they only had $215 dollar knives and an $800 pencil which looks suspiciously like one dad has. The guy there told us of a better place and off we went. So $25 later Kit had a whizz bang pocket knife with a saw attachment, 2 knives and various other things. He thought it was the best present ever although he did comment to me as I bought it "it's really cheap"...not sure if he's expecting something else.

While we were out we had pizza for lunch (Matt had taken the day off) and the most wonderful gelati...Matt and I shared lemon although Oscar's baciwas pretty good too.
On the way back to the car we passed this great little French restaurant with the most amazing entry way...I had to take some pics:

Ella was still covered in chocolate from her gelato.
When we got home all Kit wanted to do was carve his stick. And Ella wanted to pose and the puppy wanted to eat wood shavings.

Oscar was so inspired that he got out his knife he bought in France and had a go. He really wanted to buy a pocket knife too, but we said it had to be another day to make it special for Kit.
And later we had a lovely dinner outside (and the cold change came through) and the lovely pie.
Friday was GORGEOUSLY COLD!!! It only got up to 14 deg C after temps over 30 for the last few weeks. It was rainy and lovely and reminded me how much I look forward to and adore those autumn days here. We went out in the morning and Kit spent his birthday money from Nanny, Peg and Grandma and Grandad on a Playmobil castle. He (Ella and Remi) have been playing with it non stop since.

This morning it was 12 deg when I woke up, although it got up to a beautiful 27 or so...it's still 25 right now. We took the puppy out this morning to the local dog park which was lots of fun and then tonight went to a party at an Aussie guy we know's place. He had a big hoo ha with jumping castle, and entertainment. Kit and Remi were really getting into the Karoke: they did 3 songs; 2 Oasis and one "King of the road". I'm sure they would have still been at it if we hadn't had to come home and let the puppy out.

So It's been a busy coupla days.
