Today I had the car to myself for the first time. I drove back home on my own after dropping Matt at work. That was very scary for me, but I did it. Then I drove up to school and back and up to the supermarket and back. 3 outings in one day. WOAW.

I needed the car because I had to go up to school to do a birthday celebration for Kit. Since he has a summer birthday, they let him do it now before school ends (only 5 1/2 more days to go!). I made my fail proof Martha cupcakes and used up the icing from Oscar's birthday cakes. They are very yummy, but I still had fussy kids throwing them out because they didn't like them (and telling me all about it).I was also up in Kit's class to teach all the kids to finger knit. I had intended to take photos of that, but it was so crazy that I didn't get the chance. It was a success though, after about an hour only a few of them hadn't got it. And they were getting there. I love their enthusiasm. The ones who finished a long enough lenght were wearing them as wrist bands, head bands, belts etc. Fantastic! By the time they'd finished it was going home time, so I braved the after school traffic and drove the kids home. The two photos above are for my Dad and Maggie. Kit's class did a Flat Stanley unit and sent out Flat Stanleys to their families. Here's the result. Looks like he went to a lot of places. This was a display outside the classroom. Kit sent his Flat Stanley to his Grandmaggie (my step mum) and we thoroughly enjoyed all the post cards he sent us.

  2. nope, Matt got a lift home with our neighbour, who works in the same building, and was home by 6.30 pm. The joys of this new job. I'm actually working up to trying to turn left out of our drive in peak hour...it's a bit tricky and we had thunderstorms last night with lots of rain so I thought I'd be pushing it a bit. A little at a time...
