Wonderful weekend

The leaves are all coming out. It's just amazing the difference a few weeks makes. And with the leaves, the flowers. I am so enjoying my gardens at the moment. The Tulips have kept going much longer than I ever thought they would, and I have planted lots of seeds...we'll see if they come up. It's a bit of a gamble, but I couldn't bear to spend lots of money on this garden only to see it covered in bulldozers in a year and a half.

The colours from the tulips are magical...this was my favourite.
But they also look stunning freshly watered. And lazy days and evenings spent out in our very special yard. Matt playing guitar.
And Kit playing banjo
All these photos were taken Friday evening. We had such a lovely start to the weekend. Then Saturday was the local fair at the kids' school (elementary) where I face painted for 2 hours and then helped for another 2hrs on a different stall. Matt and the kids had a ball going on rides and winning prizes. It was a fanastic community event. But we were all exhausted by Sat evening. I was quite happy to sit outside in the hammock reading my new knitting magazine my wonderful step mum sent me. Thanks so much Mags, I'll have to make you something now!!!
And of course Sunday was mother's day. I always find mother's day (and my birthday) hard because the kids have so many expectations for it. I find that I end up doing what they want, rather than what I want. They compete with each other to be the most loving...and fight over who is going to make me a cup of tea and things. I know it's all because they love me, but it's the one day I could do without all that! But I did have a lovely day, with poems and hand made pressies in bed, a cooked breakfast, a trip to the hardware store (that was my choice) to get more things for my veggie garden and a couple of hours playing in my veggie garden, before a delightful lunch prepared by Matt outside in the glorious sunshine. After lunch I had a lovely nap in the hammock with Kit and Ella until the sea breeze got a little cold.
Matt had a very important early morning meeting, so I still haven't picked up my license...Remi has the school athletics carnival today, but wasn't looking forward to it so much because the longest race is only 400 m. He loves his distances. And tonight we have Oscar's band concert. Looking forward to that. It's getting to that time of year where the kids are tired from school and so much is on. And it's only 10 days until Ella and I go to Norway.
Hope you all had a good weekend and those of you who are mothers were looked after yesterday!
