Jeg er glad i Norge!

It was the strangest thing to be back in a country 18 years later and to feel in some ways like it was only yesterday. Even on the flight over, hearing the Icelandic, my dormant Norwegian thinking brain cells had started to come to life. And yet it was different. Different airport, the city looked different, it just had a different feel to it.

Fortunately we were able to check into our room at 7am and we went up for a sleep ("but I'm not tired Mamma"...Zonk!) until about 10 am. I had thought that we wouldn't do much on the Friday, but when we went out for a walk we found where the ferry left to go out to 2 of the museums I wanted to see, so we went. I have to say that Ella was a trooper and walked heaps even though she must have been tired.

Ella on her friend the seal near the hotel.

So we caught the ferry across and went to the Viking ship mueum:
The building was built around the three boats.
It's quite remarkable that ships like these were able to cross to Iceland and even America.
While we were there we were asked if a magazine could interview us. So we answered some questions (in English) and they even took a photo of us. Ella keeps telling everyone that we are famous in Norway now!
From there I convinced Ella to walk a bit further around to the Norwegian folk museum. I'd never been there and I didn't really know what to expect, but it was fantastic and Ella has declared it her favourite part of the trip.
