ripple

After pulling apart my first ripple blanket (see below in juxtaposition) because it was just way too wide, I have started again.

The colours in this one are perhaps a little more subtle and I am so far happy with the result.
This one is only 80 inches wide (about a third of the other) and I find it very relaxing to ride the waves while watching TV in the evenings. I have noticed that most other peoples ripple blankets have 2 rows for every colour, but I like to mix it up a bit...some are 2 but most are only 1. See here and here and here. I have also used wools of various weights so that the blanket isn't as flat and soft and lovely as some. But I am enjoying it and I am sure the finished product will be warm and cosy. It's getting to the right size now and nicely covers my lap in the evenings (I miss our cat!).
I have found some gorgeous wool/alpaca blend on sale recently and I'm tempted to try something like this with it next.
