Kit came downstairs this morning and asked what all the spots of light on the ceiling were...We tracked it down to this little candle holder and the morning sun streaming in through the window. Just minutes after I took the photos the lovely light was gone...
But as Matt had to take the car today, I decided to buckle down and finish Ella's quilt. Can you see the similiarity?
I just realised that the next photo is sideways. Not that it really matters.
I am happy with the over all effect. It has the rainbow look, like prisms of light refracting the colours out, which is exactly what I wanted.
The back is a dark blue...and when I quilted I roughly followed the stitched lines of the quilt...I say roughly, because none of the lines were straight. But I used a cool varigated thread on the back. The edging Ella chose. It's a silky blanket edging. I wouldn't have chosen it myself, but I was so over the thing at the end that I just didn't care anymore.
Oscar and Honey modelling it.
And Ella modelling it up the stairs as it was fresh out of the dryer. She went up and made her bed and put it on top. When I tucked her in she said to me "I don't know how I can ever thank you for it". Ahhh...makes it all worth while (even sewing my finger in the machine today...typing hurts so much..don't ask how I did it as I still have no idea.)
And speaking of things I've finished. I just finished this book which I thoroughly enjoyed. I was actually drawn to this book by the cover which is a vibrant orange; much brighter than in this image. I hate it when I finish a book that I've been really into. It's like a void is left and I don't quite know what to do next. I suspect it will also be like that with this quilt. Now I have to find something else to read and another project to make me crazy.
yay, it looks truly awesome! Imagine in 100 years time that still being passed on through your family!!!!!
