Bits and Bobs, Birthdays and Break

Oh what a week!  I'm still recovering from being unwell last weekend and needing extra naps during the day.   (most of these photos I've instagrammed which is about all I can manage these days)

Last Sunday we went out as a bit of a birthday day for me, although I had no energy really.  Remi and Kit went home early and Matt, Ella and I went to TWG for a fancy afternoon tea with macaroons.

Monday, my actual birthday, was spent in bed watching movies and napping and still feeling miserable, but trying to recover enough to get through 3 days of teaching.
....
I had some wins this week teaching, including this lovely 4th grade take on cubism:
Unfinished, but brilliant and she really got it!
....
New birthday shoes that gave me blisters and a numb toe...I still love them and may need to put wet newspaper in them or something to stretch them out a bit:
....
Thursday, Matt's birthday, we had our Community Arts CCA with only 2 students (which was lovely actually, especially as one of them was Ella.)
It's coming along and I do really enjoy doing this.

We had a nice little quite at home celebration for Matt's birthday.  But by Friday I was feeling pretty exhausted and looking forward to a day off...

Not to be... I got a call from the school nurse around 10 am to tell me that Kit had fallen badly doing hurdles at school and needed to be taken to the hospital for x-rays.
And yes, it's a broken ankle.  SIGH.  My poor breakable boy.
He's got a soft cast on at the moment and is going to get a hard cast on Wednesday, he's moved back into his old bedroom (my studio!) to avoid so many stairs, and he'll have to take a taxi to and from school for the next month or so.  Luckily it will all be over before the performance of the latest school play which is the musical version of The Wind in the Willows.  Kit got the part of Rat, Ella didn't get a part and was suitably "crushed".  She tried out a new dance class this morning though, so hopefully that will take the sting out of it a bit.
...

Today I stumbled upon some lion dancing for the end of Chinese New Year in the mall.  I loved watching the tossing of lettuce and orange peel all over that nice display.

I love these things. I love hearing the troops riding around Singapore playing drums in their trucks and  the lion costumes.

 .....
Today I bought some Thai pillows so that Kit could more comfortably sit on the floor to play computer games...if he can kick Remi and Ella off.
 ...
We have Steve and Heather (our neighbours from Vermont) staying with us this weekend before they head back to the US and snow. Which is lovely.  And we found out today that Oscar has got into art school which is brilliant news.
...

I leave you with this photo of Waffle who was twitching away outside.  She still terrorises Loki and poor Loki is TERRIFIED of leaving Ella's room and scurries back up there every time we try to bring him down.

  1. Great news about Oscar, shame I won't be joining him this year, was looking forward to that. I suspect Kit won't be following his elder bros onto the rugby field, Singapore seems like a fun place with lions and things always gadding about in the shopping malls etc...
